Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Police state they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then located multiple other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials say initial examinations show the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; authorities are presently not informed of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to solve the case" and have asked to the community for information.
A high-ranking official stated the attack rendered him without words and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing attack five years ago," he stated on online, mentioning the murder of nine people by a shooter focusing on individuals of migrant background in 2020.
